Mafer Olvera
A native of México City, Mafer is a social activist and an expert in youth affairs and mental health, launching seminal projects since her 20’s. Among many initiatives and roles, she was the Director General at the Youth Institute of Mexico City (INJUVE CDMX) for the 2013\2018 administration. She has developed innovative models of social intervention to translate youth voices and needs into action to improve their lives.
Under her leadership, Mexico City received the “Outstanding World Achievement”, during the My World Partner Recognition Awards at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, and a special recognition during the Global Festival of Action for Sustainable Development in Bonn, Germany, for the exceptional participation of INJUVE CDMX as the first local government to reach out 1.6 million voices in the global survey for a better world “My World”. Mafer translated this into a local policy that created the first and unique model of free and universal emotional professional health care, known as “Hospital for Emotional Well-being.”
Mafer is the author of two books, Sonidos Urbanos Mexico City and Sonidos Urbanos Guadalajara and founded the editorial house: Sonidos Urbanos Producciones and the independent record label Madame as a contribution to Mexican diversity and creativity. Today, she is the co-founder of SIKI, a consulting firm that specializes in mental and occupational health.
